George Washington's hand is in a book in this picture. He is also pointing his finger. (the John pose)
You see scrolls and books in this picture:
Here are other John poses:
This is the John pose from the painting.
But, Washington can also be represented as Moses. Moses means to 'draw forth' from water. Washington would mean something like 'washing' with water. They both brought us the 10 laws and brought people independence. This was the first Seal of the United States:
This Seal depicts Moses leading the people across the Red Sea and in the foreground, you can see Pharaoh and the Egyptians being swallowed up by it. At the top, in the middle is Yahweh's representation of the pillar in the clouds. This seal is showing us that the story is made manifest in Washington as Moses.
Furthermore, the similarities in the Last Supper painting to Jesus' left:
The guy in the brown has his arms spread out like he's on the cross, while the man over his shoulder is pointing up. The same pose as is Washington is doing and the Angel pointing up, while the man behind Washington is doing the same pose as this man in the Last Supper painting:
They both are bald and bearded, and he looks as though he is holding someone up. Every person in the Last Supper painting is doing a different pose.
